Holding the keys to knowledge of the early solar system, meteorites come to Earth and if we find them before our caustic atmosphere can dissolve them, there is much to learn of the planets and asteroids out there. Pieces of planets get caught in our gravity well and actually land here and are recognized.

This piece of the moon arrived on Earth before the Apollo missions had left it. Therefore, it was slow to be accepted as ejecta from a moon/meteorite collision – until the Apollo rocks were found to be chemically identical. Read its pedigree and weep, you doubters.
